Once a Month Shannon's will post a fly of the month. Les hand selected one of his favorite fly patterns to share with all of you. This fly may be one of Les's creations, a new pattern from one of our local Fly Tiers, or one of the old classics.

MAY 2006 LES' LEMON CAHILL SPINNER

Hook:

 Standard Dry Fly

Thread:

 Yellow, Light Cahill Uni-thread 6/0

Tail:

 (3) Bleached Elk hairs

Rib:

 None

Tag:

 None

Body:

Cream & Yellow mixed fur dubbing (light lemon yellow)

Wings:

White hackle points, divided, semi spent

Hackle:

 Golden Ginger (Light)

NOTE: Another classic dry fly originated by Leonard Halladay. This is probably the most fished fly ever tied. It can be used as a suggestive mayfly pattern,  or a caddis pattern. It can be tied spent wing or upright, with or without an egg sac.

My notes: Les couldn't have said it any better. You need to have these in your box.-JH
